Data sources

Campsite Odds is built entirely on public Recreation.gov data:

• Campgrounds & campsites — facility names, locations, amenities, and site inventory from the Recreation.gov RIDB API.
• Reservation history — Recreation.gov’s public historical reservation exports, aggregated into per-campground, per-month statistics. We store aggregates only, never individual bookings.
• Booking windows — the standard Recreation.gov rolling reservation-window rules, with per-campground overrides.

Campsite Odds is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Recreation.gov or the National Park Service.

Current status: the odds on the site are presently computed from a sample demonstration dataset, not live reservation exports — a “sample data” banner marks this, and the pages are kept out of search indexes until real ingestion is complete. See how the scores are built in the methodology.
